Science Support Officer – The Cobalt Development Institute
Based: Guildford, Surrey, UK
Established in 1957 and based in the UK since 1982, the Cobalt Development Institute (CDI) was set up to promote the use of cobalt worldwide, provide a forum for information exchange and ensure the implementation of best environmental health, safety and social practices.
With the recent establishment of new chemicals legislation in Europe we are looking for a capable person with a science background to help the cobalt industry with the implementation of the regulation.
The successful candidate will have a good Masters Degree or PhD in a relevant science discipline (Environmental/Chemistry/Metallurgy…), knowledge or experience of the regulatory environment would be beneficial. The candidate should be an effective communicator displaying excellent presentational skills, be able to work confidently on their own initiative, demonstrate competent computer capabilities (particularly with all aspects of the ‘Office’ suite) and be willing to travel.
The candidate will work under the guidance of the General Manager and also work closely with the Technical Manager. This will require playing an active role in communicating/analysing regulatory requirements throughout the cobalt supply chain and providing administrative and scientific services to the cobalt industry for the successful implementation of the new EU regulation. There will also be an opportunity to contribute to the running of the CDI itself.
